Position

Position indicates where your brand appears in AI-generated recommendations.

What it measures

When answering a question, AI models often mention or recommend multiple brands within the same response.

Position is your brand's average rank among the brands named in an answer, where the first brand named is position 1.

Being mentioned earlier generally indicates that the AI model considers your brand a more relevant or prominent option for the user's query.

How it's calculated

For each answer where your brand appears, we take its order of appearance among all brands detected in the answer text — the first brand named is 1, the second is 2, and so on — then average that across every answer where you're mentioned in the selected period.

The Position column shows each brand's average rank when it's named — lower is better.
Lower is better

Position only considers answers where you're actually mentioned, so it says nothing about how often you appear. Always read it together with Visibility: being named first in the rare answer that mentions you is very different from being named first everywhere.

How to read and improve it

A falling Position (moving toward 1) means models are surfacing you earlier and more prominently.

Because ordering reflects how strongly the model associates you with the question, improving it comes down to strengthening the content and sources that tie your brand to the topics you want to win.

Frequency

Alongside position, Vosapio also looks at frequency — how many times a brand appears within a single source or answer.

Where position tells you where a brand shows up, frequency tells you how often it's repeated in the same place. A brand named several times in one source is being emphasised more strongly than one mentioned only in passing.
